Man, 37, hit by 2 semis on US 301 after he left crashed vehicle on side of highway: FHP

A 37-year-old St. Petersburg man died late Friday night after he was hit by two tractor-trailers on U.S. 301 in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Troopers said the man crashed on U.S. 301 northbound near Southeast 111th Avenue and left his vehicle on the grass shoulder to walk on foot on the highway.Just before midnight, he was hit by a semi hauling a trailer northbound and was then hit by a second tractor-trailer traveling behind the first one.The man died at the scene, troopers said.Neither semi driver was injured. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
