An Animal Care Center off St. Johns Bluff Road in the Sandalwood area of Jacksonville is dealing with major flooding in its parking lot after a week’s worth of rain, followed by Hurricane Isaias.Employee Jalyn Smith said the flooding started building on Tuesday during the nor’easter that wreaked havoc across Northeast Florida.“We’ve had this rainwater for a few days now. I remember having videos from Wednesday and Thursday, so it has not gone down,” Smith said.Smith said they hoped that some of the water might recede during the brief respite the area had from the rain on Friday, but it didn’t help much.“When the tasks have to get done at the clinic, I guess that means wading through the rivers, too,” Smith said with a smile.Smith said the grooming salon in the clinic had some bad flooding inside, but the animals in the boarding area have been doing OK.Wading into the ankle-deep water with News4JAX, Smith warned about floating spiders because the area is near creeks and woods.
